LG Ericsson LIP-8024D Phone Handset (IP reception model)

Typically used as the receptionist handset or primary phone, the LG Ericsson LIP-8024E phone handset is the direct replacement for the previous LG LIP 7024 IP phone (which is still available). Its has had a minor freshen up but now comes with gigabit connectivity for faster connection and data transfers. There are larger models in the LG LIP-9070 phone,  LG LIP-8050V and the LIP-8040L and the real difference, apart from colour screens, and video, is that the other models use soft keys on screen whereas the LIP-8024D phone still uses multi colour LED's and programmable flex keys down the side. 

Many users actually prefer this because they can see everything at a glance without having to add extra DSS modules. A soft key allows users to see on screen user names as opposed to printing them off onto paper down the side of the phone.

Incredibly easy to use, the Ericsson LG LIP-8024D phone uses a proven combination of navigation keys and menu keys to make operation a breeze.

The only real difference between the LIP-8024D and the LIP-8012D phone is the fact that the LIP-8024D has 12 more programmable buttons. If you have a smaller business and don't need the extra buttons offered by the LIP-8024D handset, the LIP-8012D phone may be better value for money.

If you are using these handsets on the latest iPECS pbx system (iPECS 50, iPECS 100, iPECS 300, iPECS 600, iPECS 1200) (not the LG iPECS SBG-1000 phone system for small business) you can still use the cheaper equivalent LDP-7024 Digital handset. It's non IP but still looks almost identical and will save you money if you already have existing phone cabling in place.

The 8024 IP looks good, and is intuitive and easy to operate in spite of the advanced feature set on offer. With the 24 programmable buttons on the right had of the console, each button can be customised to:

• Show which staff are on the phone at any time
• Speed dial important numbers
• Indicate which phone lines are being used
• Release remote door locks
• Page, and more

To improve productivity, the 8024D buttons all offer one-touch operation. For example, to call a colleague you'd simply look at their flex key to see if they were free or not. This is where the multi colour LED status lights are excellent and you can see the status at a glance based on the colour displayed. Then it's just a matter of pressing that key to call them, and hanging up to transfer the call.

If you need more than 24 buttons you can easily expand this and there are both paper versions and LCD extra consoles with 12, 40 and 48 additional buttons available that easily connect to the side of the 8024 IP handset and operate in the same way as the handset.

As an IP phone handset, the LIP 8024 IP handset automatically configures itself as soon as it is plugged in, which enormously simplifies extension changes and additions. And with the gigabit connection you're guaranteed lightening speed across the network.

The phone is also intelligent with context sensitive softkeys that displays the correct choices on screen for the 3 keys directly beneath it. These choices change depending on the activity you are using with the handset at that time for example, when making a phone call they would present functions like transfer, conference or mute. However, if you then used voicemail they would change to offer voicemail menu options like replay, delete etc.

This phone is part of the LG Ericsson 8000 series which means they are compatible with the new LG iPECS range as well as the small business LG iPECS SBG-1000.   As a cheaper alternative for staff that may not need to access 24 buttons you should also consider the cheaper LIP 8012D phone handset.
