Other modular systems, even NEC UNIVERGE SV8000 phone system series, offer feature sets that are not relevant to many 2-10 handset customers. As a hybrid solution, The NEC SL1100 telephone system offers the latest SIP trunking for VoIP as well as normal traditional phone lines connections like PSTN, ISDN2 and even Primary rate (which is surprising on a small business solution). This way small business owners can opt to stay with technology they know, but easily migrate to VoIP in the future when they choose. Easy to use NEC Digital and IP handsets
The SL1100 allows customers to connect any combination of IP, Digital and analogue phones so there's a solution for every budget. A limitation of the NEC SL1100 is that the range of handsets are not the same as those available for the more sophisticated SV8000 phone system series. You only get the choice of 3 handsets (2 models in the SL1100 digital series and one model for the SL1100 IP). What you miss out on is choice, advanced multimedia applications and Gigabit connectivity for IP that is offered with the SV8000 pbx models. If you like the look of other NEC handsets then you should check out the NEC SV8100SE phone systema solution which is also designed for small business but slightly more expensive. The NEC SV8100SE is also the ideal solution if you are looking at expanding to additional locations or simply want more sophisticated CTI applications for your company.
The SL1100 handsets are easy to use and feature rich. Admittedly they are not as stylish as some of the other ranges but they are functional and practical. For small business solutions they're probably very similar to what you may be used to. This makes it easy for staff to transition to the new NEC SL 1100 telephone system solution.
Probably the two most popular features for small business users are included at no charge. Voicemail can be used for individual staff as well as a company messaging facility for afterhours. Plus, you even get voicemail to email notification included as well. This allows your voicemail to be sent to your inbox as a .WAV file so you can access them from anywhere you get your email (laptop, Smartphone etc). The auto attendant allows you to control the day and night answering modes - either automatically or manually which can be ideal for smaller companies that don't always have staff in the office. There are up to 8 system modes in total and each option can be tailored. For example you may choose a lunch mode that deals with incoming calls differently when the receptionist steps out. It's easy to use and very effective when combined with the simple self administration program. Administer your own NEC SL1100 pbx system
The SL1100 comes with an easy to use GUI interface that allows you to make your own changes to the phone system. All you do is connect a PC or laptop to the main equipment and you can make your own adds, moves and changes without having to pay for external phone companies. This is a great way to take complete control and reduce your ongoing operational costs.
The NEC SL 1100 pbx doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's more basic, easy to use and with feature sets that cater to the small end of town.
