Perfect for everyday users, the new Avaya 1408 digital handset replaces the outgoing 5410 phone. The new range takes on a more traditional look and offers colour coded flashing lights that are very popular with staff and were missing from the previous handsets. If you're looking for an IP phone then you're after the new Avaya 1608 IP handset. The Avaya 1408 phones offer you:
- 8 flex keys so you can program them for whatever you want
- Each of the 8 flex keys offers both red and green flashing LED's so you can see if they are free or busy. This is very popular in busy offices.
- One touch buttons for popular telephone tasks such as transfer, mute, conference, drop (end a call), hold, mute and many more.
- High quality speakerphone
- Hands free calling and communication
- An integrated headset jack to support all the popular Plantronics, GN Netcom and Sennheiser headsets
- Clear, easy to read three line, 24 character, display with white backlighting for incredibly easy viewing in any light condition
- Large capacity contacts and call log applications that make your life so much easier as you can now call people back at the touch of a button.
- Intelligent user interface that provides only the options you need in the areas you're in. You don't need a PHD to operate it but there's almost nothing you can't customise.
In short, theAvaya 1408 phone handset is the most popular in the new Avaya 1400 series lineup because it's cheap, brilliant in its functionality and easy to use. Now it looks more like the traditional style phones that people are used to operating it is a smart choice to compliment the award winning IP 500 R.6 Office. It is more feature rich than the 1403 and the only real difference between it and 1416 is a slightly bigger (adjustable angle) screen and 8 more flex keys. The 1408 is compact, well designed and looks stylish in black.
One of the best additions to the new Avaya 1408 phone is the green and red LED lights next to the flex keys. In a typical office you can see with a simple glance if people are on the phone or available (if that's what you program the keys for). This is perfect for small office in particular where you may not have a dedicated receptionist or where many staff help out in the call answering process.
Avaya has gone back to a more traditional looking phone with this new 1400 series and the 1408 is very much like the popular LG Aria, Panasonic and other competitors it comes up against in this space. Finally you can get the looks you're familiar with, combined with the best functionality in the market.
If you're looking to implement the awesome One-X on screen platform where you can do everything with the click of a mouse then you don't necessarily need the more expensive, feature rich 1416 model. The 1408 does everything 95% of staff could want. The only real need for the 1416 is if you had a more staff and literally wanted to see more people on your handset. If you have more than 16 staff and want to do this then you'd opt for the cheaper 1408 and simply use the One-X platform.
The Avaya One-X allows you to do everything you need on screen from listening to voicemail, to answering and even transferring calls, accessing personal and company speed dials and even co-ordinating a conference call.
