The Not So Good

If there is a downside to the LG Aria SOHO, it’s because of the feature that’s also its greatest strength – namely, the wireless. Like any wireless device, range is dependent on metal, glass and other building materials that can limit a wireless signal. If your office is particularly large or is on multiple levels, your SOHO system may be subject to signal loss and drop outs. However, since this system is normally only chosen by home or home offices, this generally isn’t a problem.

It’s important to mention that the LG SOHO will not support ISDN phone lines, nor is it compatible with SIP trunking for IP calls which is becoming standard on normal phone systems. As mentioned it is also not expandable beyond 3 PSTN lines and 8 handsets so if your business is likely to outgrow the SOHO quickly it may be worth looking at another system.

The Verdict

If you don’t have cabling, want a phone system that covers all the basics and is simple enough to install yourself then the LG Aria SOHO is for you.

If you already have existing cabling in place, however, then a fixed wire solution is always better since you eliminate interference and get much purer call quality. Remember, if you are looking at the SOHO because you want to be able to move around your office while on the phone, you can always attach a cordless phone to a standard fixed wire digital phone system.
